From Office Space to Full-fledged Foreign Dubbing Facility

I was a founding member and chief audio engineer at Post 2.0, a startup endeavor specializing in mixing foreign dialogue for features and series. We partnered with Netflix to create a centralized mixing workflow to tackle their massive foreign dubbing demand for their original shows.

To meet this demand, we needed a systematic approach using automated workflows and consistent practices across all creative processes. We converted a typical looking office space, cubicles and all, into a complete audio editing and mixing facility. We made all the enclosed offices into near-field surround sound mixing rooms and converted the central office space into an open layout workspace with several processing and editing workstations. Consistency was key with our setup. Every computer featured the same software and plugin suite. We treated each room acoustically, and all workstations utilized the same speaker and headphone setup. I oversaw the design, installation, and maintenance for all of these systems and the central IT and network storage infrastructure.

Home Studio

It’s been a goal of mine for a long time to have a home studio space, and as of October 2020, I’ve finally achieved that goal. My room is acoustically treated and features a surround sound set of JBL 705p studio monitors. My system is configured so I can seamlessly switch between my iMac and PC as my main workstation, and I use both Pro Tools and FL Studio providing me with a versatile workflow to work on a variety of different sound projects.
